Sponsorship Campaign of the Foundation for the Conservation and Recovery of Marine Animals
SUMUS 4 CRAM

This season we wanted to go one step further in our commitment to sustainability, with our environment, our beaches and the native fauna. That is why we have signed a sponsorship agreement with the CRAM Foundation (Foundation for the Conservation and Recovery of Marine Animals) to start a new sustainable action in our hotels.

Our pool towel service is free at both hotels, but as of the 2023 season, if you wish to change your pool towel during your stay, this service will cost €1 per towel, which will go entirely to the CRAM Foundation, to work on the rescue and rehabilitation of sea turtles, as well as the conservation of the marine ecosystem of the Mediterranean Sea.

 

By implementing this action, we seek to reduce water consumption, prevent a large part of the waste derived from cleaning products from ending up in our seas, while giving visibility to the CRAM Foundation in our establishments and among our clients, at the same time that we contribute financially to this beautiful cause that does such important work in the conservation of our oceans.

At Sumus Hotels Group we show interest in contributing to improve our society and the environment, which is why every year we work with the aim of promoting the sustainability of our hotels with our responsible actions in order to do our bit.

Although we have always been aware of our environment and tried to carry out our activity in a sustainable way, since our last major remodeling in 2017, we have made an important commitment to sustainability by adapting our establishments by implementing four major new lines of action:

Zero Carbon Footprint

Climate change is one of the biggest global crises, and at Sumus Hotels Group we are determined to be an active part of the change.

Our goal is to reduce emissions so that our activity harms the environment as little as possible.

During the last years, the scarcity and contamination in the water have become a great red alert. For this reason, sustainable water management is so important, to recover the balance between water consumption and its natural renewal. 

And for this, our goal at Sumus Hotels Group is to reduce water consumption with our sustainable actions.

Energy efficiency is essential to reduce energy consumption without losing benefits and, in addition, we manage to be more sustainable because we reduce CO2 emissions.

Our goal is to use less energy without sacrificing daily activities or the comfort of our customers.

At Sumus Hotels Group we keep in mind the rule of the 3 R's (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) to collaborate in the conservation of the environment and the planet. 

Our goal is to raise awareness and involve all our staff and customers in recycling and reducing waste generation to help fight climate change.

BIOSPHERE SUSTAINABLE

Biosphere Sustainable, promoted by the demarcation of Barcelona for the Provincial Council and the City Chamber of Commerce, with close support from the Costa del Maresme Tourism Promotion Consortium, through the Responsible Tourism Institute (ITR), a partner of the World Organization of Tourism and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, recognizes our efforts made by our hotels in which they show commitment to sustainability and that they follow a manual of good practices.

The requirements that we meet at Sumus Hotels Group to obtain this certification are the following:

  • Cultural values, diversity and heritage.

In addition, thanks to this certificate, we are working on the process of aligning the activity of our hotels with the 2030 Agenda, recognizing the actions with which we contribute to the achievement of its 169 goals and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Safe Travels

The Safe Travels certificate, created by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), was born as a result of a set of protocols promulgated by the World Health Organization, with the firm purpose of ensuring that tourist destinations obtain recognition to be safe and of quality. 

At the same time, it arises to exalt and encourage those who provide tourist services and who have been constant in the implementation of health standards and protocols, to continue guaranteeing the safety of travelers.

At Sumus Hotels Group we have the Safe Travels certification, obtained in 2022, recognizing our work and commitment to guarantee the well-being of our clients, adapting to the new challenges and security practices imposed by the pandemic.
